Kids' Cafe π»
Hello everyone βοΈ
The Kodomo Food Bank KFB also runs a free after-school program called the Children's Cafe on Tuesdays and Thursdays π
The trigger was learning the shocking fact that there are children who live solely on the school lunches provided.
Therefore, with the desire to create a safe and welcoming space where local children can easily drop by, play, and eat, we decided to open this children's cafe!
It's been seven years since we opened, and we've had the opportunity to be featured in newspapers and news programs on several occasions, allowing us to meet many volunteers and supporters. π
Previously, when the children came home from school, the staff would help them with their homework and play together, and then everyone would eat a light meal together.
However, now, due to infection control measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, they are not cooking meals and are instead distributing miso soup, snacks, and other supplies that have been sent to them to the children.
Also, the children's cafe is closed until September 30th due to the state of emergency. π
Although we are sad to see the children go, our entire staff is diligently cleaning π§Ή and disinfecting all the rooms in order to be fully prepared to welcome them back in October πβ¨
The children's cafe is quiet and a little lonely right now, but all the staff are sincerely looking forward to the return of the lively daily life filled with the laughter of children, just like before. πππ
Please take precautions to prevent infection and stay healthy! β¨β¨
